June Hersh is the best-selling author of 7 books, 6 focused on food. They include Food, Hope & Resilience; Authentic Recipes and Remarkable Stories from Holocaust Survivors (formerly known as Recipes Remembered a Celebration of Survival.). The book has sold over 20,000 copies, with all its proceeds going to charity. She also penned, Iconic New York Jewish Food, a History and Guide with Recipes, The Flavor of Upstate New York- Iconic Dishes, Delicious History & Reinvented Recipes, The Kosher Carnivore,Still Here, Inspiration from Survivors and Liberators of the Holocaust, and Yoghurt a Global History (which has been translated into Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic).

 

June is currently at work on a book with two-time James Beard award-winning chef Alon Shaya, as they explore stories from WWII and the Holocaust through the lens of food. June is a freelance writer for numerous local magazines, food-related and Jewish publications. Through her writings and public speaking engagements, June’s goal is to educate, inform, celebrate food history, and preserve Jewish food memory.
