JHAL’s Social Services offers two full-time social workers to assist families and residents with transition and one-on-one support in River Vale, NJ
Unlike many assisted living facilities in New Jersey, Jewish Home Assisted Living has 2 full-time social workers to assist families and residents with transition into our community, and to continue their day to day lives in their new home. Our social workers are here to provide one-on-one support to our residents and families, as well as arrange and oversee internal support groups.
The Social Service Department at Jewish Home Assisted Living strives to enhance the social and emotional well-being of our residents in very unique ways.
Our Social Service Department offers these programs:
- Welcome Wagon – run by residents to help meet and greet new residents as they move in and get settled into our community.
- Transitions Group – helps build a successful transition for newer residents as they become acquainted with our more established residents.
- Ritual Committee – meets to discuss the spiritual and religious needs of our residents, to ensure spiritual belonging.
- Family Support Group – Support groups are an important way to deal with the stress of being a caregiver and/or dealing with the decline of your loved one through the years. Becoming a member of a caregivers’ support group can be one of the most important things a family member does, not only for him or herself, but also for the resident in the assisted living facility.
