Support in a Social Setting
The Gallen Day Center is a community based program which offers participants the opportunity to socialize with peers and maintain or improve their level of functioning so that they can remain in their community.
This service provides assistance to caregivers who have the responsibility of caring for an older adult who requires a structured, supervised setting. The Gallen Day Center meets the needs of seniors and disabled adults with a variety of medical conditions such as:
- Alzheimer’s Disease
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Vision and Hearing Impairment
- Memory Loss
- Use of Wheelchairs/ Walkers
Our services include:Nursing Care
Skilled Nursing assessments, monitoring and care. Health promotion, showering, education and counseling. Administration and supervision of medication.Recreational Activities
Planned therapeutic activities designed to meet individual interests and capabilities. Crafts, art, music, daily exercise, horticulture, current events, discussion groups, intergenerational programs and holiday celebrations.Click here for our calendar of events.Social Work Services
Initial interviews, referrals, home visits, and individual counseling for participants and/or family members.Case Management
Ongoing review of participants’ need and eligibility for community services, home care and long-term planning.Transportation
Drivers trained to assist the elderly provide door to door transportation in handicapped accessible minibuses.Meals
Breakfast, morning snack and hot lunch are provided to all participants. The Jewish Home at Rockleigh, a kosher facility, is under the supervision of the Rabbinical Council of Bergen County.Environment
5,500 square feet is dedicated to The Gallen Day Center in the state-of-the-art Jewish Home at Rockleigh. Designed especially for the older adult population we serve, it is safe, comfortable and includes two spacious activity rooms, a medical suite, a reclining area and amenities such as outdoor patio, gardens, and secure walking paths.
Participants have accessibility to the Jewish Home’s beauty salon, library, outpatient medical and rehabilitation facilities.Caregiver and Parkinson's Support Groups
Caregiver Support Groups are offered free of charge and are open to the public. Facilitated by professional staff, the group addresses the emotional and practical issues of caring for a loved one in a supportive atmosphere. Groups meet once a month. Rehabilitation Medicine
The on-site rehabilitation center offers complete services for outpatients including physical, occupational and speech therapy. Services are billed separately and are payable through private funds, insurance, Medicare or Medicaid, if eligible.Outpatient Medical Services
Fully equipped on-site medical suites offer outpatient medical, podiatry and dental care. Medical services are billed separately by the provider and are payable through private funds, insurance, Medicare or Medicaid, if eligible.
- There is a daily fee for participation.
- Government funding is available for eligible individuals. Information and referral services are provided to achieve a suitable funding source for each applicant.
- Long Term Care Insurance may apply
- Medical and rehabilitation services will be billed separately. Insurance coverage may be be available.

Hours of Operation
The Gallen Day Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Participants may attend two to five days weekly. Extended hours are available.
